Doron Lev
Drummer, MC and illustrator. Drums on “I Just Believe in Christmas,” a guest on Beautiful Tornado, and three films at Third Wall Studio in 2026.
Doron Lev is a drummer, MC and illustrator, born in Miami to Israeli parents and based in Brooklyn, with a BFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts. He leads the band Uglybraine, was music director for Rennie Harris’s Funkedified at the New Victory Theater in 2018 and for the Michael Jackson tribute Invincible, has toured with American Music Abroad, and has stage credits from Break! The Urban Funk Spectacular to Radio City’s Spring Spectacular. His visual work includes commissioned portraits, logos and community murals. He is an artist in residence at Third Wall Studio.

Drums, a podcast, and three films
He is one of the three people I asked to help finish the words of “I Just Believe in Christmas,” and he played the drums on it, at Figure 8 in August 2015. The first episode of Beautiful Tornado, the podcast I made with Dom Bouffard, is called “Waiting for Doron”; he is the guest on the second. “Sometimes You Need Sun,” released in 2022 as Catfish Calhoun and Friends, is with him.
At Third Wall Studio three of his films came out in 2026, all made in Burlap: Truck Stop Love and Pigeon Problems in February and Watching Shadows in April.
