Ableton Live

The performance DAW. I endorsed it, built “Awakening (To Blacklist)” in it, and looped Lucibel Crater with it.

I was an Ableton Live endorser; the 2008 REDCAT program and the 2014 Asia Society Sunken Cathedral notes say so. “Awakening (To Blacklist)”, from The Book of Sarth, was built in Live: sixty-cycle hum run through plugins until a frequency shifter became the melody. How I did it, with the audio.

The live looping in Lucibel Crater was in Ableton. I recorded the loops as we played and then made an arrangement from them: play the loops, play that back, and build an arranged song out of what we had made.

On the recordThe REDCAT program for the Metal Machine Trio nights, October 2008, and the Asia Society notes for Sunken Cathedral, April 2014, both list Sarth Calhoun as an Ableton Live endorser. It’s pretty cool because I was able to record all these loops and then do an arrangement. I’m gonna try to play the loops and then play that back and do an arranged song from the loops we had built using Ableton. I really should do an explainer video, a template, an Ableton template thing, and a whole essay about this and show how it worked ’cause it was fucking awesome.
